Jakarta: The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) is investigating 24 firms in relation to their alleged involvement in land and forest fires in certain areas in Indonesia.
“If the range of the hotspot is more than 80%, it may indicate fire." KLHK's law enforcement director Yazid Nurhuda told Medcom.id on Tuesday.
"In order to confirm the situation, we need to visit the site," the official added.
Based on data from the ministry, 14 of them are based in West Kalimantan. In the meantime, five corporations are based in Riau.
The official said that the 24 companies have been summoned by the ministry. He also revealed that the number of suspected firms can increase in the future.
"We will detrmine whether they are guilty of igniting fire or not. We will also study their permits," Yazid explained.
Here are the list of the 24 corporations:
Jambi Province: PT MAS.
South Sumatera Province: PT HBL.
Riau Province: PT RAPP, PT AA, PT GSM, PT SRL PT TW.
West Kalimantan Province: PT DAS, PT GKM, PT UKIJ, PT PLD, PT SUM, PT MSL, PT TANS, PT SPAS, PT
MAS, PT SP, PT UB, PT SKM, PT AER, PT ABP.
Central Kalimantan Province: PT DI, PT SSS, PT IFP.
