Jakarta: Greater Tangerang region has decided to extend the implementation of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in a bid to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Greater Tangerang consists of Tangerang Regency, Tangerang City and South Tangerang City. The region is one of Jakarta's satellite areas.
According to Tangerang Regent Ahmed Zaki Iskandar, the PSBB period will be extended for 14 days until October 4. Besides extending the PSBB period, Banten Governor Wahidin Halim has also introduced several additional measures.
"The measures are stipulated in the circular letter," the Tangerang Regency leader said here on Monday.
The Indonesian government is currently focusing on flattening the covid-19 infection curve in nine provinces with the highest transmission rates, namely Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, North Sumatra, South Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Papua, and Bali.
To tackle the impact of covid-19, the Indonesian government has set several targets, including lower daily new covid-19 cases, increase in recovery rate, and decline in mortality rate.
