Jakarta: As many as 31,232 Jakarta residents were forced to flee their homes after floods hit several areas in the capital city. The evacuees currently stay in 269 evacuation centers in 38 affected districts.
According to the Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Data and Information Division head M Ridwan, the data will be continuously updated.
"The data was updated at 19.00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) on Wednesday, January 1, 2020," Ridwan said here on Thursday, January 2, 2019.
In East Jakarta, floods hit 10 districts and 65 sub-districts. As many as 13,316 people were evacuated to 99 shelters.
In South Jakarta, floods hit 10 districts and 25 sub-districts. Around 5,300 people currently stay in 48 evacuation centers.
Six districts and 30 sub-districts were hit by floods in West Jakarta. The floods forced 10,586 people to flee their homes.
In the meantime, 1,515 people currently live in 23 shelters in North Jakarta. Lastly, in Central Jakarta, 310 people cannot return to their homes.
