Halim Perdanakusuma Airport Resumes Normal Operations

Jakarta: Normal flight operations resumed at Halim Perdanakusuma airport in East Jakarta a day after floods hit several areas in Greater Jakarta region.
 
"It has returned to normal," Transportation Ministry's Air Transportation Director General Polana Banguningsih told Medcom.id here on Thursday, January 2, 2019.
 
The airport was partially opened at 02.30 PM on Wednesday, January 1, 2019. State airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II assured that the airport's runway has been free from floodwaters.

The runway was not damaged by floodwaters. The firmness of the runway is still in line with the standars," PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin remarked.
 
Torrential rains triggered floods in several areas in Greater Jakarta region on Wednesday, January 1, 2019. At least 31,232 Jakarta residents were forced to flee their homes. The evacuees currently stay in 269 evacuation centers in 38 affected districts.
 
According to the data from the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), as many as 8 people were found dead in Jakarta, 3 in Depok City, 1 in Bekasi City, 1 in Bogor City, 1 in Bogor Regency, 1 in Tangerang City and 1 in South Tangerang City.
