TransJakarta President Director Agung Wicaksono said that the target will be realized gradually. He said that the company will start bringing in electrical buses in 2021.
“In 2030, we expect to operate as many as 14,000 electrical units, from medium and big buses, such as metromini, to small buses, such as angkot," Agung said here on Tuesday, November 26, 2019.

Currently, the transportation company operates around 3,200 to 3,300 buses. Out of the total, 30 percent or around 900 units are directly operated by PT Transjakarta.
The rest of them are operated by other firms such as PPD, DAMRI, Kopaja and Angkutan Umum. Nevertheless, their operations are still supervised PT TransJakarta.
Agung said that the company will carry out tests on three electrical busses this year. He also hopes that the national automotive industry can fulfill the demand of PT TransJakarta.
“We will be delighted if our demand is supplied by our national industry given that it is impossible that all of our electrical buses are imported. So, we hope that the national automotive industry can take advantage of this opportunity,” he said. (Translator: Muhammad Gestinev)
