Jakarta: Many app-based taxi drivers in Jakarta are worried that the expanded odd-even license plate traffic policy will affect their activities.
"If we receive orders at odd-even routes, we should adapt to the situation," an online taxi driver named Fachri Rahman told Medcom.id on Thursday.
Nevetheless, he is committed to following the government policy. In order to avoid prohibited areas, he will search for alternative routes.
“We still can take alternative routes or enter prohibited areas outside the hours of odd-even policy,” he added.
The Jakarta provincial administration has decided to expand its odd-even license plate traffic policy. It will be fully effective on September 9.
The new odd-even routes are Jalan Pintu Besar Selatan, Jalan Gajah Mada, Jalan Hayam Wuruk, Jalan Majapahit, Jalan Sisingamangaraja, Jalan Panglima Polim, Jalan Fatmawati (from intersection of Jalan Ketimun 1 - intersection of Jalan TB Simatupang), Jalan Suryopranoto, Jalan Balikpapan, Jalan Kyai Caringin, Jalan Tomang Raya, Jalan Pramuka, Jalan Salemba Raya, Jalan Kramat Raya, Jalan Senen Raya and Jalan Gunung Sahari. The policy will be enforced from 6-10 AM and 4-9 PM, except national holidays.
According to reports, the socialization phase will be held from August 7 until September 8. Meanwhile, the trial phase will be held from August 12 until September 6. (Translator: Rifqi Akbar)
