Semarang: Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo has urged nine regions to tighten the implemntation of coronavirus disease 2019 (covid-19) protocols.
The nine regions are Semarang City, Tegal Regency, Pati Regency, Rembang Regency, Boyolali Regency, Sragen Regency, Wonosobo Regency, Pemalang Regency and Kudus Regency.
"Regents and mayors should tighten the implementation of health protocols so we can control the spread of the virus," the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician said here on Monday.
"All events should be postponed or held virtually," he added.
On Monday, the National Covid-19 Task Force announced 3,141 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 221,523.
Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, the total number of confirmed covid-19 recoveries increased by 3,141 to 221,523 from Sunday noon to Monday noon. Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed covid-19 deaths rose by 118 to 8,841 in the past 24 hours.
