Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has said that the government will turn 15 hotels in Jakarta into isolation sites for asymptompatic coronavirus disease 2019 (covid-19) patients.
"So they will not spread the virus at home," the president said here on Monday.
According to the fomer Jakarta governor, the 15 hotels can accomodate as many as 3,000 asymptomatic covid-19 patients. Besides hotels, the government will also turn training centers into isolation sites.
"A training center in Ciloto, Puncak, West Java can accommodate 653 people," he explained.
The Jakarta provincial government officially started Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) today. The policy aims to lower the covid-19 hospitalization rate in Indonesia's capital.
Jakarta Special Capiral Region previously implemented PSBB measures for around two months from April until June. The city then changed its policy into Transitional PSBB in early June.
