Pangkalpinang: The Head of the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Bangka Belitung Province Mikron Antariksa today said that as many as 116 hotspots were detected in the region.
According to the government official, a day earlier, only six hotspots were detected in the province.
"Yesterday, there were six hotspots. Today, the number increased to 116 hotspots. They were detected in Bangka, West Bangka, South Bangka, Belitung, East Belitung, Central Bangka and Pangkalpinang," Mikron said here on Wednesday.
"To identify the hotspots, the rapid reaction team must directly observe the hospots. We also must encourage people not to conduct slash and burn activities. The practice is very dangerous," he explained.
