Washington: United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Samantha Power met with Indonesian Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin and Vice Minister of Environment and Forestry Alue Dohong on Tuesday.
Administrator Power thanked the Ministers for Indonesia’s long, strategic partnership with USAID.
She also affirmed the Agency’s commitment to supporting the country’s leadership in their fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and working together to advance global health security.
For the record, Indonesia will assume the G20 presidency in 2022.
"Among the priorities discussed for continued collaboration were addressing vaccine hesitancy and the health impacts of COVID-19, strengthening primary health care, and exploring the use of health technology," said USAID spokesperson Rebecca Chalif in a press release on Wednesday.
The leaders also discussed ongoing efforts to support climate and environment initiatives, such as orangutan conservation efforts and other forest and peatland management activities as well as encouragement for Indonesia to increase its carbon mitigation targets.
