Jakarta: The National Covid-19 Task Force today confirmed 3,635 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 232,628.
From Wednesday noon to Thursday noon, the total number of confirmed covid-19 recoveries across Indonesia rose by 2,585 to 166,686. Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed covid-19 deaths in the country increased by 122 to 9,222.
"11 regencies and municipalities have more than 1,000 active cases, namely Semarang Municipality, Medan Municipality, Bekasi Municipality, Makassar Municipality, North Jakarta Municipality, Central Jakarta Municipality, West Jakarta Municipality, Bekasi Regency, East Jakarta Municipality, Surabaya Municipality and Pekanbaru Municipality," National Covid-19 Task Force spokesperson Wiku Adisasmito said during a virtual press conference here on Thursday.
"These 11 regions contribute around 26 percent to the total number of active cases in Indonesia," he added.
The Jakarta provincial government started to reimpose Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) on Monday. The policy aims to lower the covid-19 hospitalization rate in Indonesia's capital.
Jakarta Special Capiral Region previously implemented PSBB measures for around two months from April until June. The city then changed its policy into Transitional PSBB in early June.
