Jakarta: Forestry and Environment Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar will focus on the prevention of land and forest fires in the second period of president Joko Widodo’s administration.
After meeting with President Jokowi at the Presidential Palace this afterrnoon, the NasDem Party politician revealed that she was re-appointed as forestry and environment minister.
“Based on the President’s order, I will prioritize forestry fire prevention.” Siti said here on Tuesday, October 22, 2019.
Siti said that her ministry will deploy more personnel to routinely patrol around the areas where fires are likely to occur.
“We will focus more on the prevention of land and forest fires before they occur,” she said.
The politician from NasDem Party also promised to finalize the draft of the omnibus law which covers the issues of capital, location, land and environment. (Translator: Muhammad Gestinev)
