Iran Wants to Discuss Defense Cooperation with Prabowo

Jakarta: Iran is interested in working together in the field of defense with Indonesia. This will be discussed with Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto.
"Iran has good experience in the field of defense. If Indonesia is interested, of course we can cooperate with Indonesia," said Iran's Ambassador to Indonesia Mohammad Azad at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Kemenkopolhukam), Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta on Tuesday, January 21, 2020.
Azad claimed that he was trying to meet Prabowo Subianto. He hopes the cooperation talks will be carried out soon.

"We are still waiting for the meeting schedule with Bapak Prabowo, of course," Azad said.
Azad also met with the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam), Mahfud MD. The two figures discussed the plan of cooperation in a number of sectors.
"As is well known, Iran and Indonesia have started diplomatic relations since 1950. In 2020 we will celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations and certainly want to increase our cooperation with Indonesia in various dimensions," Azad said.
Azad also mentioned the relationship between Iran and the United States to Mahfud. Azad said Iran was pressed economically.
He said his country never wanted or started a war. Iran seeks dialogue and peace measures. Although, tension in Iran still surrounds the country.
"Holding a dialogue forum called Tehran Dialogue. A forum that invites cooperation from all countries in the region to maintain security and peace," Azad said.
