Jakarta : Sunan Kalijaga was appointed as Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI) acting chairman after Diaz Hendropriyono resigned from the position.
“Congratulation for being elected as the new chairman @pkpi_id @sunankalijaga_. Thank you for the leadership @dHendropriyono during troubling times. We are determined to continue this fight,” @pkpi_id tweeted on Monday.
According to the party's official twitter page, a meeting between Diaz, Sunan Kalijaga, and PKPI’s Honorary Council Chairman AM Hendropriyono was held recently.
PKPI's Honorary Council agreed to Diaz’s resignation during the meeting.
AM Hendropriyono believes that Sunan Kalijaga is a cabaple figure and could lead PKPI well.
"A national figure and also a public figure that I hope can continue PKPI’s leadership," said AM Hendropriyono through a video.
“I hope that PKPI could immediately begin the national congress," he added. (Translator: Natasha Celia)
