Jakarta: Kompas Gramedia Corporate Communication Director Rusdi Amral has said that Kompas Gramedia founder Jakob Oetama will be laid to rest at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta.
"He will first be brought to Kompas Gramedia Building and then he will be laid to rest at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery," the Kompas Gramedia official said here on Wednesday.
According to him, the ceremony will follow covid-19 held protocols. To prevent the spread of the coronavirus, people can virtually paticipate in the ceremony.
On Wednesday afternoon, Jakob Oetama, passed away at the age of 88. According to a press release from Mitra Keluarga Kelapa Gading Hospital, he passed away at around 13:05 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
Jakob was born in Borobudur, Magelang, Central Java on September 27, 1931. He founded Intisari magazine with P.K Ojong in 1963.
On June 28, 1965, Jakob and Ojong founded the Kompas daily. The business grew into one of the largest media conglomerates in the country.
