Jakarta: The Covid-19 Handling Task Force Chairman Doni Munardo has welcomed Jakarta Govenor Anies Baswedan's decision to ease covid-19 restrictions in Indonesia's capital.
"He of course consulted with the central government before taking the decision," Doni said here on Monday.
According to Doni, the Jakarta provincial government still needs to regularly evaluate the covid-19 situation in the region. If the trend starts to increase again, the local government should be ready to take necessary measures. From September 14 until October 11, local authorities imposed the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in Jakarta.
"Hopefully the situation will remain under control," Doni stated.
Last week, after studying several indicators, Anies decided to ease covid-19 restrictions and implement transitional PSBB measures.
The indicators include, among others, daily cases, daily deaths, active cases and covid-19 hospitalization rate.
