Jakarta: This week was special for nickel players in Indonesia. The largest nickel-producing country just hosted two prominent nickel conferences simultaneously: The 3rd Nickel Producers, Processors & Buyers Conference, organised by Petromindo and CoalMetalAsia, and the 3rd International Ni & Cr & Stainless Steel & New Energy Industry Development Conference 2024, held by Mysteel.
Between these prestigious events, Nickel Industries Limited stands above the rest and rises as a leading player in the global nickel market.
Over the past few years, Nickel Industries has been making significant strides in its operations, consistently delivering high-quality nickel at competitive prices. The company is rapidly emerging as one of the world’s largest listed producers of low-cost nickel.
In a little under six years from IPO, Nickel Industries has grown from zero nickel production to more than 130,000 tonnes of nickel metal in 2023, effectively placing the company as the sixth biggest nickel producer globally. This achievement is a testament to the company’s commitment to operational excellence, technological innovation, and sustainable practices.
"We are proud to be recognised as a global leader in the production of low-cost nickel," the Head of Sustainability at Nickel Industries Muchtazar said.
"Our success is a result of our relentless focus on efficiency, innovation, and sustainability. We are committed to continuing our growth trajectory while contributing to a sustainable future," he said.
As the demand for nickel continues to rise, particularly in the electric vehicle and renewable energy sectors, Nickel Industries is well-positioned to meet this growing demand. The company’s robust production capabilities, coupled with its commitment to sustainability, make it a reliable partner for businesses seeking to source nickel responsibly.
Last year, the company’s Hengjaya Mine achieved the highest ESG scores for the nickel sector in Indonesia, which resulted in the mine receiving a Green rating from the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
Furthermore, the company has committed to reduce its carbon intensity by half in 2035 and to achieve net zero in 2050, which was first announced in the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai. This pledge strengthens the company’s role as a role model in responsible and sustainable nickel production in Indonesia.
