Jakarta: The Jakarta provincial government decided to allow asymptomatic covid-19 patients to undergo self-isolaton at home several weeks after it announced that aysmptomatic people must undergo self-isolation at isolation centers or hotels.
The new policy is based on Jakarta Governor's Decree Number 980 Year 2020 on the Procedure of Controlled Isolation Management as Part of Handling of Covid-19.
"We are currently still preparing more isolation centers," Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria said here on Thursday.
"Therefore, if a covid-19 patient is asymptomatic, the patient is still allowed to undergo self-isolation at home with conditions," Riza explained.
The conditions include, among others, adequate housing, continuous monitoring, strict implemntation of health protocols and approval of nearby neighbours.
On Thursday afternoon, the National Covid-19 Handling Task Force confirmed 4,174 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 29,182.
Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, from Wednesday noon to Thursday noon, the total number of confirmed covid-19 recoveries across Indonesia was up by 3,540 to 218,487.
Meanwhile, in the same period, the total number of confirmed covid-19 deaths in the country was up by 116 to 10,856.
