Jakarta: National Police Commission today said that it has yet to submit names of National Police chief candidates to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
"We are planning to submit the names to the president as soon as possible," the National Police Commission member Poengky Indarty told Medcom.id here on Monday.
"We are still reviewing the names," the official stated.
To evaluate the track records of the National Police chief candidates, the National Police Commission held talks with a number of stakeholders, including former National Police officials and community leaders.
National Police Chief General Idham Azis will enter retirement age next month. He has been leading the law enforcement agency since November 2019. He previously served as the Head of the National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) from January 2019 until November 2019.
He replaced Tito Karnavian who was appointed as Minister of Home Affairs of the Indonesia Onward Cabinet by President Jokowi.
