President Jokowi Visits West Sulawesi

Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to visit West Sulawesi Province on Tuesday after a strong earthquake struck the region last week.
 
According to Presidential Secretariat Head Heru Budi Hartono, President Jokowi want to visit several quake-affected areas in the province.
 
"The President will visit evacuation shelters and quake-affected residential areas," the official told reporters here on Tuesday morning.

On Friday, a magnitude 6.2 earthquake hit several regions in West Sulawesi Province, including Majene and Mamuju regencies.
 
Based on data gathered by the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), the earthquake killed at least 84 people and displaced thousands of local residents.
 
"On behalf of the Government and all the people of Indonesia, I’d like to express my deepest sorrow for the dead victims,” President Jokowi said at the Bogor Presidential Palace, Bogor, West Java, on Friday.
