Jakarta: The National Covid-19 Handling Task Force confirmed 3,906 new covid-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 340,622.
Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, in the past 24 hours, the total number of recovered covid-10 patients across Indonesia was up by 4,777 to 263,296.
Meanwhile, in the same period, the total number of confirmed covid-19 deaths in the country rose by 92 to 12,027.
On Monday, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that the covid-19 vaccination will be provided for five groups.
The first group is the frontline workers involving in COVID-19 handling, including medics and paramedics, personnel of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri), law enforcement officials, and public servant (3.4 million people). The second group is community members, religious leaders and regional apparatus in districts, villages, and neighborhood units (5.6 million people). The third group is 4.3 million educators in early childhood education, kindergarten, elementary school, junior high school, senior high school and university level. The fourth group is Government officials (central and regional governments as well as legislative members) with 2.3 million vaccine recipients. The fifth group is 86 million beneficiaries of the premium subsidy (PBI) of the Social Security Agency for Health Care (BPJS Kesehatan).
Regarding the procurement of vaccine, the Government continues to seek cooperation with a number of relevant parties and encourage the production of the national red and white vaccine.
The vaccine manufacturers Sinovac, Sinopharm, and CanSino have reaffirmed their commitment to supply vaccine.
Minister of Health and Minister of State-Owned Enterprises are also involving in the final negotiation with AstraZeneca for the procurement of 100 million doses of vaccine.
