Success of 2020 Elections Hinges on Implementation of Health Protocols: KPU

Jakarta: The General Elections Commission (KPU) has said that the success of the 2020 Simultaneous Regional Elections hinges on how well covid-19 protocols are implemented during the campaign period and on the voting day.
 
The covid-19 protocols include, among others, wearing masks, washing hands, as well as maintaining distance.
 
"The KPU has urged all stakeholders to strictly implement the health protocols," KPU commissioner I Dewa Kade Wiarsa Raka Sandi told Medcom.id here on Friday.
"We always promote the implementation health protocols to all stakeholders," he said.
 
Held in nine provinces, 37 cities and 224 regencies, the simultaneous regional elections will take place on December 9, while the campaign activities will take place from september 26 to December 5. 
 
To tackle the spread of the coronavirus, the KPU has decided to limit and prohibit a wide range of campaign activities, including music concerts and public gatherings.
