Jakarta: President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo inspected Pluit water reservoir, Penjaringan, North Jakarta on Friday, January 3, 2019. It was an impromptu visit.
The president inspected the area. He checked the water pumps," Presidential Secretariat's Deputy for Protocol, Pers and Media Bey Machmudin told reporters after the visit.
According to the official, president jokowi arrived at Pluit water reservoir at around 09.00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB). Visiting the location for around 30 minutes, he monitored the performance of the water pumps.
"President also checked heavy equipment there. He also met with the staff. He then returned to the Palace," Bey explained.
President Jokowi earlier instructed his suboordinates to anticipate floods in Greater Jakarta area. He asked all agencies to prioritize people's safety.
Secondly, he said that supporting infrastructure in the region must be protected. Lastly, the central government and local leaders must cooperate to resolve the issue.
