Palembang: A passenger bus with the route Palembang-Bengkulu fell off a cliff in Liku Lematang Indah, Pagaralam City, South Sumatra Province on Tuesday, December 24, 2019.
The bus reportedly carried at least 37 passengers. As many as 24 passenger died and the other 13 were injured due to the incident.
Dempo Tengah regional head Hafiz Ramadhan said that the rescue team immediately arrived at the location. Hafiz explained that the joint team consisted of the police, the military, National SAR Agency and volunteer groups.
"It happened at midnight. It was a bus crash. A bus fell off a cliff," he said.
Meanwhile, Pagaralam SAR Office head Dayu Willy said his team immediately went to the location after receiving information about the incident. He revealed that the team cooperated with other government agencies to rescue the victims.
"The operation was supported by other agencies including Pagaralam Police, Pagaralam Municipal Police and Pagaralam Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD)," he said.
