Makassar: Jeneponto Regent Iksan Iskandar and his wife Hamsiah Iskan announced on Tuesday that they tested positive for covid-19.
"According to the results of our swab tests, we contracted covid-19," the regent said in a statement on Tuesday morning.
According to him, he and his wife are in good health and will undergo self-quarantine for at least 14 days. In addition, the Jeneponto regency government has postponed a number of upcoming events.
"God willing, I will return to work as soon as possible," he stated.
On Monday, the National Covid-19 Task Force announced 3,141 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 221,523.
Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, the total number of confirmed covid-19 recoveries increased by 3,141 to 221,523 from Sunday noon to Monday noon. Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed covid-19 deaths rose by 118 to 8,841 in the past 24 hours.
