18 Lawmakers Contract Covid-19: House Deputy Speaker

Jakarta: The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Deputy Speaker Azis Syamsuddin today revealed that as many as 18 lawmakers recently tested positive for coronavirus.
 
"There are also 22 staff, expert staff, aides and other employees," the Functional Groups (Golkar) Party lawmaker said here on Tuesday.
 
Previously, the DPR leadership decided to conclude the latest session period on Monday or three days earlier than the scheduled day. 

"We want to curb the spread of covid-19," Azis said.
 
On Monday evening, lawmakers passed the controversial Omnibus Bill on Job Creation into law during the last plenary session of the latest session period.
 
The National Covid-19 Handling Task Force on Tuesday confirmed 4,056 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 311,176.
 
Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, from Monday noon to Tuesday noon, the total number of confirmed covid-19 recoveries across Indonesia was up by 3,844 to 236,437.
