Jakarta: National Police Spokesperson Inspector General Muhamad Iqbal has encouraged the public to help eradicate terrorism and radicalism.
"We will continue to deradicalize terrorists by cooperating with the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) and other related government agencies because police cannot work alone," the National Police official said here on Tuesday, November 19, 2019.
A suicide bomber named Rabbial Muslim Naustion attacked the Medan Police Headquarters in North Sumatra province on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. The perpetrator reportedly wore an online motorcycle taxi jacket.
Six people were slightly injured as a result of the incident. The victims are four police officers, one freelance employee, and one civilian.
The police have arrested as many as 46 terror suspects since the attack. 23 of them are members of the North Sumatra-Aceh branch of the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) terror group.
"Two suspects were shot dead after they tried to attack our officers," Iqbal explained.
