Jakarta: More than 100 people have died and hundreds more are injured as a result of shootings by Israel against residents in the Gaza Strip who were waiting for food assistance. Indonesia strongly condemns the attack.
"Indonesia strongly condemns the shooting of Palestinian civilians by Israel in Gaza, which has killed at least 100 people who were seeking humanitarian aid," said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs through social media account X, Saturday, March 2, 2024.
The Indonesian government questions this humanitarian tragedy, including its relation to the actions of the UN Security Council so far. "Indonesia reminds the UN Security Council that no country is above the law," the statement emphasized.
Furthermore, Indonesia also urges global countries to stop providing weapons aid to Israel for the sake of justice and humanity.
A total of 115 people have died and more than 700 others were injured due to Israeli attacks on Gaza residents seeking humanitarian aid. This has drawn condemnation from the international community.
In self-defense, Israel claims that they did not shoot, but rather the victims were accidentally trampled or hit by aid trucks. However, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for a full investigation into the case.
Meanwhile, the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza has killed more than 30,000 Palestinian civilians, with over 70 percent of them being women and children.
In addition to facing war, Gaza residents also face the potential of famine. It is recorded that 10 Gaza children have died due to malnutrition amid the war.
