Magelang: Enzo Zens Allie is one of 596 military cadet candidates during the Joint Integration Basic Training at the Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java. He is the son of French man Jean Paul Francois and Indonesian woman Siti Hajah Tilaria.
“Of course he is an Indonesian citizen. He will be prohibited to join the Military Academy if he is not an Indonesian,” Military Academy general commander Vice Admiral Aan Kurnia told Antara on Tuesday.
According to Aan, Enzo can speak four languages namely Indonesian, English, French, and Arabic. Moreover, he also can recite the Quran.
“His father is French, while his mother is a Medan resident. After the death of his father, he lives with his mother in Indonesia," Aan added.
Enzo is not the first military cadet candidate with foreign blood. A Dutch-Indonesian person joined the Navy years ago.
“Many children of military and government officials cannot join the academy because they cannot meet the required standards. On the other hand, a lot of children from humble bacground have been accepted by the academy because they have good qualities," Aan explained. (Translator: Rifqi Akbar)
