Jakarta: A landslide occurred in Soco Village, Kudus Regency, Central Java Province on Monday morning, killing two people.
According to a report by the Operations Control Center (Pusdalops) of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Kudus Regency, the disaster occured at around 09.00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
Furthermore, the landslide claimed the lives of two construction workers. They did not have time to save themsleves and were buried under landslide material. Meanwhile, the other two construction workers managed to escape from the landslides and were evacuated by officers from BPBD and other institutions.
"The two bodies were transported to a funeral home," said the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesperson Raditya Jati said in a press release on Monday.
To mitigate similar disaster, BNPB has advised local governments to educate the public and install warning signs in landslide-prone areas.
In addition, the agency has also warned people who live around landslide-prone areas to stay vigilant, especially during rainy season.
