Banda Aceh: Acting Governor of Aceh Nova Iriansyah is scheluled to be inaugurated as definitive Governor of Aceh on November 5.
According to Aceh Legislative Council Deputy Speaker Safaruddin, the date has been approved by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian.
"Thank God, the president has approved the date," said Safaruddin here on Tuesday.
"The inauguration is based on the Aceh Government Law Number 11 Year 2006," he added.
Earlier this year, President Jokowi issued a presidential decree on the dismissal of Irwandi Yusuf Aceh Governor for the 2017-2022 period. Irwandi was proven guilty of corruption in connection with Aceh Special Automony Fund (DOKA) in 2018. He was sentenced for seven years in prison in April 2019.
Nova has served as acting Aceh Governor since October 2019. The 56-year-old politician was previously Irwandi's deputy. He served as Democratic Party lawmaker in the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) from 2009-2014.
