Jakarta: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has ensured that conducting sting operations is not its only strategy to tackle corruption in Indonesia.

According to KPK spokesman Ali Fikri, the law enforcement agency also implements a wide range of preventive measures.

"Every time the KPK conducts a sting operation or handles a corruption case in a particular area or sector, the KPK also carries out various preventive measures and promote education on anti-corruption," said the spokesman in a written statement, Wednesday, December 21, 2022 .

"KPK is commitedd to providing assistance to all regional governments, both the executive and legislative branches," said Ali.

On Tuesday, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan urged the anti-corruption agency to evaluate the implementation of sting operations.

The implementation of KPK's sting operations, Luhut said, could be counterproductive and damage the country's image.

"Sting operations are actually not good. Sting Operations make the country look bad," Luhut said at the Launching of the 2023-2024 Corruption Prevention Action in Jakarta on Tuesday, 2020 December 2022.

"KPK should not be too eager to make arrests. Take a second look," he stated.
