Jakarta: The Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) through the Researcher and Research Student Enrichment Program (R2SEP) invites students to increase the number of citations through writing a review paper. Because now many researchers are using paper reviews as a theoretical basis in their research.
The number of university citations is still one of the criteria in the World Class University (WCU) assessment. "More people are writing review papers, ITS citations are increasing," said Head of the ITS Environmental Engineering Department, Adhi Yuniarto in a press release, Monday, October 14, 2019.
However, there are still many ITS lecturers or researchers who choose to write research papers rather than review papers. Research publications that are still based on results make the research paper the choice for their research.
"This matter is inversely proportional to a review paper in the form of a literature review," said Adhi.
Another reason behind the lack of writing a review paper is the limited learning time for research-based graduate and doctorate students. This can be overcome by making a review paper when students are writing their methodology in their research paper.
"Strategies like this are very useful, not only adding publications, students can also make two papers at once," he explained.
In the future, to increase the number of ITS citations, he hopes that the research supervisor will facilitate students to write a review paper while writing their research paper. "Hopefully there will be more students or lecturers who are eager to write a review paper," he concluded.
