Vice President to Visit Flash Flood Victims in Lebak

Jakarta: Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin is scheduled to visit victims of flash floods in Lebak Regency, Banten, Thursday, January 30, 2020. The government will provide compensation for victims who have lost their homes.
 
The Vice President will also hand over food aid, tents, mattresses and kitchen equipment to the victims. They have been forced to flee their homes since early January 2020.
 
Flash floods in Lebak Regency caused 359 people to be displaced. The victims are mostly residents of Lebak Gedong area which is located not far from the Ciberang River.

Until now, the victims are temporarily residing at the Military Regional Command III Siliwangi Training and Combat Education Depot.  
 
On this working visit, the Vice President was accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya Bakar, and Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela Tanoesoedibjo. The group left for Rangkasbitung Station from Kebayoran Station at 09.00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
 
In addition to the visit, the Vice President is scheduled to plant Jamaican guava trees in the State Building area, Lebak Regency Government.
 
After planting the trees, the Vice President will return to Rangkasbitung Station and inspect inspect the Rangkasbitung-Serang train line. Through the railroad improvement project, the travel time from Jakarta to the Port of Merak is expected to be shorter.
