Jakarta: The central government's covid-19 task force today confirmed 1,761 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total to 95,418.
From Thursday noon to Friday noon, the total number of recovered covid-19 patients increased by 1781 to 53,945. Meanwhile, the total number of official covid-19 deaths rose by 89 to 4,665.
On Thursday, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo reiterated that 215 countries are experiencing economic crisis due to covid-19 pandemic.
He explained that it is not easy to control the pandemic and at the same time ensure that the economy still runs.
The OECD, the President continued, predicted economic contractions of several countries, such as, France minus 17 percent, the United Kingdom minus 15 percent, Germany minus11 percent, the United States minus 9.7 percent, Japan minus 8.3 percent, and Malaysia minus 8 percent.
Indonesia’s economy in the first quarter of 2020 grew by 2.97 percent but in the second quarter it is projected to shrink by minus 4.3 to 5 percent.
