At Least 55 Dead in Flash Floods in East Flores, Lembata: Disaster Agency

Jakarta: At least 55 people died due to flash floods in Lembata and East Flores regencies in East Nusa Tenggara Province, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) said on Monday.
 
"44 people died in East Flores, while 11 people lost their lives in Lembata," BNPB spokesperson Raditya Jati said in a written statement.
 
Moreover, 24 people are still missing in East Flores, while 16 residents are still missing in Lembata.

Besides Lembata and East Flores, hydrometeorological disaster also occurred recently in other regions in East Nusa Tenggara, including Kupang, Central Malaka and Ngada.
 
According to a report by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), most areas in Indonesia have the potential to experience extreme weather from April 3 until April 9. 
 
Lembata and other regions in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province have the potential to experience heavy rain this week.
 
To tackle the impact of the potential extreme weather, BNPB and other related government regencies have urged residents to remain vigilant.
