Jakarta: The National Covid-19 Task Force spokesperson Wiku Adisasmito has explained that 292 regencies and municipalities only have less than 50 active coronavirus disease 2019 (covid-19) cases.
"There are 292 regencies/municipalities or 56.8 percent of all regencies/municipalities," the spokesperson said during a virtual press conference here on Thursday.
"This is good news," the National Covid-19 Task Force official stated.
Earlier this week, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) ordered several ministers to collaborate and closely monitor the latest covid-19 mitigation measures in nine provinces.
The nine provinces are Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, North Sumatra, South Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Papua, and Bali.
To tackle the spread of covid-19, the Indonesian government has set several targets, including lower daily new covid-19 cases, increase in recovery rate, and decline in mortality rate. .
On Thursday afternoon, the National Covid-19 Task Force confirmed 3,635 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 232,628.
