Jakarta: The Indonesian Ministry of Health on Wednesday confirmed 3,307 new covid-19 case, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 203,342.
From Tuesday noon to Wednesday noon, the total number of confirmed covid-19 recoveries was up by 2,242 to 145,200. Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed covid-19 deaths was up by 106 to 8,336.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) recently formed the Team for the Acceleration of Covid-19 Vaccine Development. The team is based on the Presidential Decree Number 18 of 2020.
The team is led by Minister of Research and Technology Bambang Brodjonegoro. There are two deputy chairpersons, namely Minister of Health Terawan Agus Putranto and Minister for State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir.
"The team aims to accelerate vaccine development. Second, we want to achieve national resilience and national independence, especially in vaccine development. Third, we want to increase synergy between research institutions," Spokesperson for the Covid-19 Handling Task Force Prof. Wiku Adisasmito said in a statement on Tuesday.
The president previously formed two teams, namely the Covid-19 Task Force and the National Economic Recovery Task Force. Both of them are under the Committee for Handling Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery.
