Jakarta: PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC) has started to investigate an oil pipeline fire near the construction site of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project in the West Java city of Cimahi.

PT KCIC is a consortium that will operate the high-speed railway.

"Our team is investigating whether the cause of the fire is related to the project or not," PT KCIC official Denny Yusdiana said here on Tuesday, October 22, 2019.

The incident started approximately at 14.00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB). The fire caused a massive black smoke which can even be seen from a nearby toll road.

"It is Pertamina's oil pipeline near the high-speed railway project's construction site," Cimahi Fire Departement official Indrahadi said.

Indrahadi explained that several fire trucks have been deployed to put out the fire. He also added that authorities have closed some part of the Purbaleunyi toll road.
