Jakarta: President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will inaugurate the Holtekamp bridge. This bridge stretches over the Gulf of Youtefa in Jayapura City, Papua.
Jokowi and his entourage departed from Utarom Kaimana Airport, Kaimana Regency, West Papua this morning. Jokowi arrived at Wamena Airport, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua province at around 09:17 AM Eastern Indonesia Time (WIT).
"The President will inaugurate the Youtefa Bridge and at the same time launch the development of the creative innovation hub, Inspiring Young Papua (Papua Muda Inspiratif)," said Head of the Press, Media and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat Erlin Susanti in an official statement on Monday, October 28, 2019.
The Holtekamp Bridge will shorten the distance and travel time from Jayapura City to the Skouw Cross-border Post (PLBN), from 2.5 hours to just an hour. It is a collaborative project between the central government, the Papua Provincial Government and the Jayapura City Government.
Before inaugurating the Holtekamp bridge, Jokowi is scheduled to monitor the post-riot rehabilitation process in Wamenda. He will visit Wouma Market and the Jayawijaya Regent's Office which were damaged by riots last month.
The president will also meet community leaders, religious leaders, and traditional leaders of Wamena. After the inauguration ceremony, Jokowi will fly to Ambon City in Maluku province.
