106 Fire-Prone Areas Identified in Babel: Police

Babel: The Bangka Belitung (Babel) Police on Friday revealed that as many as 106 fire-prone areas have been identified across the province.
 
There are ten areas in Pangkalpinang, 26 in Bangka, six in Central Bangka, 13 in West Bangka, 36 in South Bangka, 11 in Belitung, and four in East Belitung.
 
“Bangka and South Bangka have the most fire-prone areas. We must work harder," Babel Police head Brigadier General Istiono told a coordination meeting here on Friday morning.

The Babel Police leader has instructed his suboordinates to raise public awareness. Local authorities should work together to educate people about the danger of forest and land fires.
 
In 2018, forest fires damaged over 2,000 hectares of land in the province. This year, Babel Police is commiitted to reducing the impact of forest fires.
 
"Don't wait until it is too late. It will be difficuly to put out the fire," Istiono said.
 
“We will give special attention. We will form a task force for forest and land fires,” added
