Over 17,000 People Affected by Flooding in Kudus

Jepara: More than 17 thousand people were affected by flooding in Kudus Regency, Central Java Province, the Kudus Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency said on Monday.
 
According to the agency, five evacuation shelters have been established in the regency. To tackle the impact of the flooding, the agency have distributed aid to the affected areas.
 
Since last week, at least 13 villages in the regency have been inundated. Besides Kudus, floods have also hit Semarang City and several regions in Central Java's Northern Coast.

"There are five evacuation shelters in the region," Kudus Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency Executive Chairman Budi Waluyo told Medcom.id.
 
Since the end of 2020, the government has reminded the public to anticipate the impact of La Nina phenomenon and to heed the warnings issued by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
 
In addition to that, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has instructed Cabinet Ministers to mitigate the possibility of hydro-meteorological disasters and the impact of La Nina in Indonesia.
