Jakarta: The National Police has confirmed that its Special Detachment 88 Anti-Terror (Densus 88) recently arrested three suspected terrorists in Palu, Central Sulawesi.
The three suspected terrorists were caught in different locations on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. They reportedly tried to join the Ali Kalora's Eastern Indonesia Mujahideen militant group.
"They were nabbed in different locations," National Police spokesperson Brigadier General Dedi Prasetyo said here on Thursday, September 5, 2019.
According to the official, the suspect with the initials CA was arrested in Taiwei. In the meantime, the suspect with the initial A was arrested in South Palu.
"The suspect with the initials AS was arrested at Jalan Malaya at Biro Bule," he remarked.
Dedi said Densus 88 also sezised pieces of evidence during the operation. He revealed that the team found bomb-making material such as pipes, wires and chemicals.
"The case is still being investigated by Densus 88," he noted.
