Jakarta: The Jakarta Health Agency has confirmed that the special capital region currently has as many as 12,974 active covid-19 cases.
"The number of active covid-19 cases in Jakarta increased by 858 today," the Jakarta Health Agency's Disease Control and Prevention Division Head Dwi Oktavia said here on Monday.
On Monday, the Jakarta provincial government recorded 1,310 new covid-19 cases. In addition, it also registered 421 covid-19 recoveries and 31 covid-19 deaths.
"The total number of confirmed covid-19 deaths is 1,592," she stated.
The Jakarta provincial government started to reimpose Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) last week. The policy aims to lower the covid-19 hospitalization rate in Indonesia's capital.
The province previously implemented PSBB measures for around two months from April until June. The region then changed its policy into Transitional PSBB in early June.
According to Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, PSBB will be implemented for two weeks. However, it could be extended if necessary.
