Rizieq Named Suspect for Violating Covid-19 Restrictions

Jakarta: Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) leader Muhammad Rizieq Shihab has been named suspect for violating covid-19 restristions, the Jakarta Metro Police said on Thursday.
 
"MRS was named suspect for violating Article 160 and Article 216 of the Criminal Code," the Jakarta Metro Police spokesperson Senior Commissioner Yusri Yunus told journalists.
 
Last month, the firebrand cleric returned to Indonesia after nearly three years of self-proclaimed exile in Saudi Arabia. He participated in several public events after his return. He also held a party for his daughter's wedding in mid-November.

"MRS was named suspect as the host of (the wedding party)," he stated.
 
According to reports, Rizieq repeatedly ignored police summons for questioning. 6 Rizieq's supporters were killed in a shootout with police early this week. The confrontation occured at the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road area on Monday early morning.
 
Besides Rizieq, police also named five other suspects. All of them are the organizers of the wedding party of Rizieq's daughter. Their initials are HU, A, MS, SL and HI.
