2 Regional Leader Candidates in East Kalimantan Succumb to Covid-19

Jakarta: The Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) confirmed on Friday two regional leader candidates in East Kalimantan Province recently succumbed to covid-19.
 
According to Bawaslu commissioner Mochammad Afifuddin, Berau regent candidate Muharram passed away on September 22. He tested positive for coronavirus on September 9.
 
Meanwhile, Bontang mayor candidate Adi Darma passed away on October 1. He tested positive for the virus on September 24.

"Both of thema are from East Kalimantan," the Bawaslu member said.
 
The simultaneous regional elections will take place in nine provinces, 37 cities and 224 regencies on December 9. Campaign activities will be held from september 26 to December 5.
 
On Friday, the National Covid-19 Handling Task Force confirmed 4,317 new covid-19 case, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases across Indonesia to 295,499.
 
Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, from Thursday noon to Friday noon, the total number of confirmed covid-19 recoveries in Indonesia was up by 2,853 to 221,340.
 
Meanwhile, in the same period, the total number of confirmed covid-19 deaths in the country was up by 116 to 10,972.
