BNPB Committed to Supporting Covid-19 Handling in North Sumatra

Jakarta: The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) is commmitted to providing support to the Provincial Government of North Sumatra in accelerating the handling of the covid-19 pandemic.
 
According to BNPB Deputy for Prevention Lilik Kurniawan, the support will be provided through the Joint Post for the Prevention and Handling of Covid-19 or Pos Gagah.
 
"This copperation is motivated by the high number of confirmed covid-19 cases in North Sumatra Province and the establishment of North Sumatra Province as one of the nine prioriry provinces," said the BNPB official during the inauguration of Pos Gagah at Sari Mutiara Indonesia University Hall in Medan City on Wednesday.

According to the BNPB official, Pos Gagah will focus on preventive activities to ensure healthy people stay healthy and to promote the implementation of health protocols. 
 
These preventive activities include, among others, training for volunteers, discussion, data collection, and allocation of resources.
 
The training aims to increase the capacity of the community and volunteer groups. The partcipants come from 34 areas in Medan City, Deli Serdang Regency and Binjai City. The speakers are academics, non-government organizations and local government officials.
 
"We have to face this pandemic together. Can't work alone. For that, the formation of volunteer groups means a lot to us," North Sumatra Governor Edy Rahmayadi said.
