Surabaya: East Java Police spokesperson Senior Commissioner Frans Barung Mangera said online motorcycle taxi drivers are prohibited from entering the East Java Police headquarters.
“The prohibition was introduced last year after the bombing incident occurred in Surabaya. The public already know that,” said the police spokesperson here on Wednesday, November 13, 2019.
A suicide bombing attack occured at the Medan Police headquarters in North Sumatra province this morning. The pertetrator reportedly wore an online transportation uniform.
The attack injured at least seven people. Police tightened security at the Medan Police headquarters after the incident.
Barung said that the prohibition is never intended to discriminate online drivers but to anticipate possible suicide bombing attacks
Another way to anticipate possible suicide bombing is to check on visitors who wish to enter the East Java Police headquarters. All visitors are required to take off their jackets and show their personal possessions.
