KRL Commuter Line Served 336.2 Million People in 2019: Operator

Antara • 05 March 2020 22:24
Jakarta: PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI), as the operator of the Greater Jakarta KRL Commuter Line, recorded that 336.2 million people used its railway services operating in the Greater Jakarta area in 2019.

"In 2019, we served 336,162,186 passengers at 80 stations," KCI President Director, Wiwik Widayanti, told a press conference here on Thursday, March 5, 2020

According to her, that number decreased slightly by 0.2 percent compared to 336,348,316 passengers in 2018, attributed to the KRL services being disrupted or shut because of political and other factors.

"Politically, 2019 was quite tense, as demonstrations occurred several times in Jakarta, so for the safety of passengers there were partial cancellations, and even the closure of certain stations. There were up to 10 cancellations," she said.

"The blackout on August 4, 2019, also prevented KRL services from operating for more than one day," she added.

In 2020, KCI has targeted to serve 352,958,922 passengers.

Based on the data of KCI, the five busiest stations in 2019 were Bogor Station serving 17.3 million passengers, Tanah Abang Station serving 15 million passengers, Bekasi Station serving 14.9 million passengers, Bojong Gede Station serving 12.4 million passengers, and Citayam Station serving 12.4 million passengers.

The application of the 2019 Railroad Travel Chart (Gapeka), which took effect from December 1, 2019, also had an impact on the addition of KRL trips. In Gapeka 2017, KCI operated 80 loops with 985 train trips, and in Gapeka 2019, KCI operated 90 loops with 1,057 trips. (Antara)
