In his speech, the President expressed his hope that this fashion show could foster Indonesian people's pride in batik.
"Through the Berbatik Palace tonight, which was held to commemorate National Batik Day which falls on October 2, I invite all Indonesian people to foster pride in the richness of Indonesian art and culture and actively preserve and develop it," said President Jokowi, quoted from Setkab.go.id.
The President added that Indonesia should be grateful to have batik as a cultural heritage that is deeply attached to the Indonesian nation and is recognized by UNESCO.
"The Indonesian people should be grateful to have batik, which is not just an ordinary work of art, but is an intangible cultural heritage of the world with symbolism, techniques and culture that are very attached to Indonesia," said the President.
This fashion show involved around 500 participants who, among others, consisted of heads of state institutions, members of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, representatives of state-owned enterprises (BUMN), public figures, representatives of archipelago kingdoms, professional models, and ambassadors from countries. friend.
The event, which was attended by around 4,000 guests, was also enlivened by dance performances and exhibitions for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
